Pencak Silat Pamur
The lineage of Pamur within Pencak Silat Pertempuran is as follows:
- Pamur - Bayu Aji Wicaksono - Tulus - Hassan Habudin - ?
The lineage of pencak silat Pamur that I study is directly from the founder, though my teacher had several teachers himself. My teacher, Bayu Wicaksono, was instrumental in teaching me some characteristics of pencak silat.
Pencak Silat Pamur is a Maduran martial art characterized by it's low and very wide stances. It uses jumping kicks as well as low-line kicking and has movements which can seem acrobatic and definately require you to be physically fit. Of course, as with all pencak silat, there are adaptations which can be utilized to make it more attainable for those who are older or unable to perform the more acrobatic portions (such as myself :-).
Pencak Silat Pamur was created in an effort to minimize the Jagoan (Fighters) from fighting and killing pesilat from other systems. The system of Pamur was meant to be a unifying system that represented aspects from many Maduran pencak silat systems.
Pamur utilizes ales, masukan, jurus, jurus harimau, sambut pukul, timbilian, tangkapan, pembasmian, and weapons (clurit, pecut, tongkat, and pedang) in it's physical expression. The highest level is a spiritual/social level known as Cobah Bunuh which literally means to "kill oneself".
As with all things written about any system, it could be wrong. I've done my best to tell you what I think I was told but sometimes there have been language issues and other issues which have impeded complete understanding. Ma'af!
